The film production of Chhaava started in April 2023 through its pre-production phase while the production period spanned from October 2023 to May 2024. The 17th-century Maratha period received one year of exhaustive research from Laxman Utekar together with his team. Costume designer Sheetal Sharma delivered authenticity through her work of obtaining Paithani sarees and returning antique borders to their original state. Vicky Kaushal devoted himself to extensive training in sword skill techniques, horse riding techniques and spear handling.
